Hello Beautiful Souls,
My clients come to me for a myriad of reasons, including anxiety, depression, brain fog and memory issues, deepening their spiritual growth, and strengthening their relationships with themselves and others. A lot of people I work with come to me after spending years in traditional therapy but still feeling stuck, like they’re going in circles without making the progress they’re hoping for. And one of the biggest reasons clients seek me out—or others in this field—is to help them taper off antidepressants.
So, let’s talk about that today.
There’s this common experience I hear from clients who’ve been on antidepressants for years: they don’t feel like themselves anymore. Antidepressants, particularly SSRIs, can be incredibly helpful for some people, especially in the short term. But what I hear a lot is that over time, they start to feel emotionally numb. You might not be experiencing the deep lows, but you’re also missing out on the highs—the joy, the connection, the full spectrum of emotions. Everything just feels… muted. This emotional blunting can make it hard to connect with yourself, your loved ones, or even your own experiences.
That’s where psilocybin comes in as a completely different approach. Rather than suppressing or numbing emotions, psilocybin helps you face them head-on in a way that promotes healing and transformation. Instead of avoiding tough emotions, it allows you to process and move through them. It’s a tool for deep exploration and self-understanding. Psilocybin helps unlock those parts of you that may have been shut down or pushed aside, allowing you to work through the things that have been holding you back—whether it’s trauma, anxiety, or unresolved grief.
Now, I know that everyone’s journey is different, and I believe all tools are useful when they’re needed. If antidepressants are a tool that’s been helping you, by all means, continue to use what works for you. I’m not here to judge or make anyone feel like they’re doing something wrong. In fact, I’ve been on antidepressants myself in the past, and they served a purpose for me during a very challenging time. There’s no shame in needing medication to help manage your mental health. My role is simply to offer another path for those who feel like they’re ready for something different or more expansive in their healing journey.
